Setting up your videos page
If you already have a videos page on your website, with the URL ‘youragency.com/videos/’, the YouTube feed feature will have been automatically added to this page. Any content or embedded videos you already have on this page will not be changed – it will be as if nothing has happened until you add your YouTube ID.
Once you’ve set up your YouTube Channel, to start linking your videos to your website simply:
- Log into WordPress by adding ‘/sl-login/’ to the end of your URL and entering your credentials
- From the Dashboard, head to Pages > All Pages
- You’ll notice a new page titled Videos – click into this
- You’ll notice a YouTube Videos section
- Add your YouTube username under YouTube Username
- Add your YouTube channel’s ID under YouTube Channel ID (optional - we'll take care of it if you don't know what this is)
- You also have the option to add some text in the Content section or change the title to something other than Videos at the top of the page if you like
- Click the blue Update button
To feature a video:
- Click the Show Featured Video dropdown menu
- Selecting No will show no featured video
- Selecting First video from my channel will feature your most recent video
- Selecting Let me choose one will open up another field where you can add a link to the video you wish to feature
- Click the blue Update button
Adding your new Videos Page to the menu
Although your Videos Page is live, your clients won’t be able to find it as you won’t have it linked to your menu. Linking to it is easy:
- Log into WordPress by adding ‘/wp-admin/’ to the end of your URL and entering your credentials
- From the Dashboard, head to Appearance > Menus
- On the left-hand side, you’ll notice a Pages menu
- Select ‘Videos’ (or whatever you have titled your Videos Page) by clicking the checkbox, then click Add to Menu
- Arrange your menu as desired by dragging and dropping menu items
- Click Save menu
